Overview
Gearbox allows fuel burn tracking for assets, either through automatic Geotab telematics imports or manual entries. Fuel usage can be configured within Service Groups, enabling you to set intervals, warnings, and compliance values for monitoring fuel consumption.
Automatic imports of fuel burn records are only supported through Geotab telematics at this stage.
Configuring Fuel Burn Tracking
To enable fuel burn tracking for an asset:
-
Navigate to Settings:
- Click on the User Icon in the top-right corner and select Settings.
-
Access Service Groups:
- In the left-hand menu, scroll down and click on Service Groups.
- Select the relevant Service Group and click Edit Service Intervals.
-
Set Up Fuel Usage Intervals:
- Locate the Fuel Usage field (similar to the KM/Hours/Days section).
- Input the following:
- Interval: Set how often fuel tracking should trigger a notification.
- First Warning: Define when the first warning should appear.
- Second Warning: Define when the second warning should appear.
- Compliance Value: Set the threshold for compliance monitoring.
Updating Fuel Usage Data
Fuel usage can be updated in two ways:
-
Manually Adding a Fuel Usage Reading:
- Go to Odometer > Fuel Usage History.
- Click the "Add +" button.
- Enter the relevant fuel usage details and save.
-
Closing a Service Record:
- When a service record is closed, Gearbox can increment fuel usage by entering a 'Fuel usage closed' value.
Troubleshooting Fuel Burn Imports from Geotab
If fuel burn data is not importing correctly from Geotab (e.g., showing as "0"), it may indicate an API issue. In such cases, please contact Gearbox support for further investigation.
