Assigning Axle Group Limits

  • Updated

Overview

Gearbox allows you to assign Axle Group limits to assets so drivers can record axle group weights when completing Load Sheets in the Prestart App.

Axle Group limits must be configured before drivers can create Load Sheets for an asset. The configured values are displayed as reference limits when the Load Sheet is submitted and reviewed in Gearbox.

Important: Gearbox Axle Group limits and Load Sheets are designed for standard vehicle configurations operating under GML, CML and HML schemes.

A valid GML mass limit must be configured before CML or HML can be assigned to an asset.

Gearbox displays the configured mass limits and the axle group weights recorded by the driver. However, Gearbox does not determine compliance for every possible permit, approval, PBS combination, route restriction or operating condition.

PBS combinations, Vehicle Approvals (VA), permits and other non-standard configurations are not automatically assessed by Gearbox. An authorised user must review submitted Load Sheets against the organisation's applicable requirements.

Create a GML mass limit

Note: CML and HML can only be assigned after a valid GML mass limit has been created for the asset.

  1. Repeat the process for any additional applicable mass limits, such as CML or HML.
  2. After assigning all applicable mass limits, confirm the asset displays the correct mass limit records.

The example below shows an asset with GML as its only assigned mass limit.

What Happens Next?

Once the applicable mass limits have been assigned:

  • Drivers can complete Load Sheets for the asset in the Prestart App.
  • The configured mass limits are displayed alongside the weights recorded by the driver.
  • Submitted Load Sheets appear in the Awaiting Review view for an authorised user to review.
  • The authorised user records whether the Load Sheet is Compliant or Non-Compliant.

Warning: Configuring a mass limit does not confirm that every Load Sheet submitted for the asset is compliant. The reviewer must consider any applicable permits, vehicle approvals, PBS requirements, route restrictions and internal operating requirements.
