Samsara Integration

Overview

Gearbox integrates with Samsara via API every night to retrieve hour meter readings. These readings play a crucial role in Gearbox for calculating Services Due and tracking running costs per hour. Automatic readings sourced from telematics are preferred over manual entries due to their reduced susceptibility to user error. Furthermore, the API feed from Cooltrax ensures consistent and timely capture of readings.

You must have an active Samsara account with API Access and Gearbox administrative privileges to complete the below steps.

Please Note: Connects to Gearbox fleet number, registration or VIN by matching Samsara license plate, Name or VIN.

Integrating with Samsara

1. Click your User Icon (1), then click on Integrations (2).

2. Locate the Samsara Integration and select the Setup button (3).

 

3. Select the Connect to Samsara button (4).

 

4. Enter your sign in details to Samsara and hit continue.

5. Select "Entire Organization" and then Allow.

 

6. Select the Connect Vehicles button (5).

7. Select the Get Readings Button (6) to obtain the latest readings and select Save and Close.

Gearbox will automatically attempt to add the new ID to the assets based on the information from Samsara. Gearbox will email a CSV file detailing the results of the connection.
