Black Box Integration

Overview 

 

Gearbox integrates with Black Box via API every night to retrieve odometer and hour meter readings. These readings play a crucial role in Gearbox for calculating Services Due and tracking running costs per hour/km. Automatic readings sourced from telematics are preferred over manual entries due to their reduced susceptibility to user error. Furthermore, the API feed from Black Box ensures consistent and timely capture of readings.

You must have an active Black Box account and Gearbox administrative privileges to complete the below steps.

Please Note: Gearbox uses vehicle 'Fleet Number' or 'Registration" to match Assets in Black Box using the 'Control Name' field, Please ensure these are matching within Gearbox and Black Box for the integration to work.

Enabling Black Box Integration

1. Click on your (1) User Icon, then (2) Integration, then press (3) Setup

2. Enter the API Key in the (3) API Key, check (4) Integrate Blackbox Control API then confirm it works by pressing the (5) Get Readings button.
3. Once you've pressed Get Readings, save the setup by pressing (6) Save.

Refresh Readings Manually

Hour and odometer readings automatically sync every night. However, users have the option to manually trigger an update at any time. Follow these steps to initiate a manual update by pressing (5) Get Readings.
